TIPS and TRICKS: How to keep your white shirts in pristine condition

Lovely white shirts can all too easily turn to unlovely 'magnolia' shirts. To help us out, Trisha Schofield, head of testing at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute (Allaboutyou.com), offers some top advice:
1. Make sure that you only wash with pure whites. "Even very pale colours can have residual dyes in them." says Schofield.
2. Use a biological washing powder or liquid." she adds. "Their enzymes remove stains and grease. Many also contain 'optical brighteners' that help."
3. What about those annoying yellow armpits? "Soak them in lemon juice for two hours before washing."
